Job Description
Under the supervision of the Youth Development Director, the Youth & Family Programs Coordinator will be responsible for programs that target households including Child Watch, Family Programs, Birthday Parties and Special Events. The Youth & Family Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive childcare staff team, working toward the same goals and with a vision of offering high quality, high value programs for members and participants.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in youth development or a related field, or a minimum of 2 years work-related experience.
- A minimum of one year related program development and/or program management experience.
- Minimum of 6 months of leadership experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated computer skills in a Google Workspace
- CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
- American Red Cross
- American Heart Association
- American Safety & Health Institute
Essential Functions
CHILD WATCH
- Supervise operation of the Child Watch program
- Assure that each child is checked in and out of the center
- Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all participants, parents, members and co-workers
- Support philosophies, policies and procedures using positive discipline and redirection
- Provide a safe environment for the children to operate within
- Maintain accurate records, including but not limited to attendance, child waivers, emergency information, and daily incident reports
- Develop, manage and publish the Monthly Child Watch Attendant Staff Schedule
- Assist in evaluating effectiveness of staff & provide feedback when necessary
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures. Inform appropriate staff of any policy or safety concerns.
- General housekeeping duties including wiping down counters/shelves, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors, taking out trash, sanitizing toys and locking all doors
- Plan, supervise and implement the daily schedule and curriculum
- Lead staff meetings and trainings
- Provide support to other departments as needed
- Other duties as assigned
FAMILY PROGRAMS
- Develop, implement and manage family programs which are offered on a regular basis for the YMCA, including Ceramics, Guitar, Kids Yoga, Parent Nights Out, Flick-N-Floats, Holiday Drop & Shops, Holiday Events (Sweetheart Dance, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc.)
- Assist Youth Development Director in the planning and implementation of Healthy Kids Day, Halloween Spooktacular & Winter Wonderland
- Plan, implement and lead age-appropriate activities/programs/classes for youth (Tumbling, Dance, Music, Art)
- Set up program registration in Daxko operating system
- Develop new family programs that appeal to our stakeholders
- Work with marketing team to market programs
- Work within parameters of established budget
- Plan events with activities, adequate staff, snacks, etc.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
- Implement, coordinate and promote birthday party rentals throughout the building.
- Establish a tiered party rental system to offer levels of parties in rental rooms and pool areas.
- Be responsible for party set-up, and be present as needed
- Secure party rentals throughout the year by establishing relationships with potential patrons, members, and community members
- Manage staff schedule to ensure appropriate ratios and supervision
OTHER DUTIES
- Respond to all member and community inquiries or complaints in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, staff, members, and families.
- Assist in fundraising efforts to support the Y’s Annual Support Campaign
- Other duties as assigned
