POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Competitive Swim to lead our Long Reach Swim Club, a YMCA and USA competitive swim team comprised of approximately 200 swimmers aged 7 to 18 ranging from beginner to national level. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of competitive swimming, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for developing swimmers of all ages and abilities. Long Reach Swim Club strives to offer a fun, safe, healthy, environment that allows an athlete to learn athletic and life skills, set goals and adopt a positive work ethic while providing positive experiences where the self-motivated swimmer can thrive and grow into productive student athletes that will be confident leaders and role models for the future.

Long Reach Swim Club has a long history of winning including just wrapping up their 35th consecutive YMCA state championship in dominant fashion. But at LRSC, winning means more than just trophies and accolades. While some swimmers are focused on best times and swimming achievements, the culture of LRSC keeps swimmers coming back year after year because it’s about more than just swimming. Long Reach and its coaches focus on investing in kids achieving their goals while feeling included in a safe, welcoming environment.
· Minimum 5 years Head Swim Coaching experience or equivalent experience.
· Level 3 or higher ASCA coaching certification.
· Current member in good standing with USA swimming with all certifications up to date.
· Expertise in Meet and Team Manager Software preferred
· Current ARC of YMCA lifeguard certification
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Effective interpersonal skills, with a customer service focus.
· Ability to work independently as well as within teams.
· Excellent organizational skills with attention to details.
· Extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.
· Good decision-making skills.
· Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated.
· Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to travel locally.
1. Recruit, hire and develop all assistant swim coaches.
2. Reviews and evaluates staff performance on an annual basis. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
3. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
4. Develop, organize, implement and maintain high-quality YMCA and USA competitive swimming programs including fall/sinter season, summer season, and 1 week summer swim camp.
5. Creates thorough, age-appropriate workouts that are connected to the swimmer’s goals, as well as skill development and competitive swimming.
6. Coordinate and manage all swim team competitions and meet registrations.
7. Plans and oversees all aspects of any team fundraisers included but limited to the annual swim-a-thon.
8. Actively engage parents and volunteers to cultivate relationships for a collaborative swim team environment.
9. Develops and oversees swim team budget, achieving retention and growth goals for department and special events.
10. Assists the larger aquatic team as needed by lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons when absolutely necessary.
11. Provides leadership and support to the annual campaign and volunteer committees/board as assigned. Assist in YMCA special events when competitive schedule allows.
12. Provide leadership to the overall YMCA competitive swim program as well as part-time coaches and volunteers.
13. Models relationship building skills in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
14. Maintain competitive team website as well as team and swimmer records.
15. Ensure that program operates within program guidelines as directed by state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Maintain a clean, safe environment for swim team participants.
16. Actively market, develop and promote the swim team and other aquatic programs.
17. Active participation in MESI and USA swimming leadership.
18. Adhere to all risk management and safety policies, reporting any inconsistencies.
19. Other duties as required.
