Are you a visionary leader with a passion for camping, youth development, and community building? The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a dynamic Executive Director of Camping Services to oversee three resident camp locations, YMCA Camp Whittle and YMCA Camp Marcil at Round Meadow in the Big Bear, CA area, and YMCA Camp High Sierra in the Mammoth, CA area. This high-impact role focuses on strategic leadership, regulatory compliance, board development, and fundraising to ensure the long-term success of our camping services facilities and programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience running resident camping or similar facilities, experience in resident camping programs, business operations, community involvement, relationship building, program/business line development.
  • Experience with resident camp and American Camp Association (ACA) guidelines
  • Y-USA Multi-Team Leader Certification (or equivalent) required within two years and must begin working towards certification within 6 months.
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support, First Aid, AED, Oxygen Administration required within 60 days of hire
    Proven success in fundraising and board development.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Essential Functions

Oversee Operations: Lead the strategic planning, program delivery, and operational excellence across three resident camp locations. Provide leadership and oversight of capital renovation projects at YMCA Camp Whittle.

Board Development: Recruit and work closely with the volunteer board of directors to build strong governance, drive mission alignment, and engage in strategic decision-making.

Fundraising Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies for both Annual and Capital Campaigns, including cultivating donor relationships, securing major gifts, and leading capital campaigns.

Team Leadership: Inspire and mentor a team of directors, ensuring the camps deliver safe, high-quality experiences that align with the YMCA's values.

Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to advance the mission of the YMCA.
