Outdoor camp located lakeside by Lake Manchaug with open fields, woodland area, and a small beach.
The Lifeguards at Camp Blanchard create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions at the waterfront, docks, and surrounding areas. If you are chosen as our candidate, you will be working under the direction of the Waterfront Director, guard free swimming, and lead boating activities (canoeing).
**Experience teaching swimming lessons and working in dark water (ponds/lakes) is a plus

Shifts: 8:45 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday
Job Type: Summer Seasonal
Pay: $18.00 per hour for new hires and $18.50 per hour for returning Camp Lifeguards. Plus, access to facilities for all YMCA employees and Employee Assistance Program.
Employees will be expected to participate in pre-camp trainings--Camp runs 6/23/2025-8/22/2025

- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must have a current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid Certificatio
- Maintain active surveillance of the waterfront area and is prepared to deliver life saving care when needed.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance to YMCA policies, procedures, and the "safe in six" model; completed related reports as required.
- Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner and remains clam and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
- Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of waterfront area including boathouse.
- Check the waterfront for hazardous conditions when arriving.
Perform other duties as required.
