Job Description

The Marketing & Communications Intern role responsibilities include copywriting, editing, project coordination, research, graphic design, and project support for the Y-USA Marketing and Communications department. The department leads the organization’s internal and external communications, reputation management, brand strategy and unification, and staff and volunteer engagement.

Duration:  May 1, 2025 – August 1, 2025

Hours/week: 25-29 hours  

Qualifications
  • Acquiring a Bachelor’s degree with concentration in a Communications, Public Relations, Writing, or Marketing field is required
  • Experience supporting a digital project is a plus
  • Ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to build relationships and work with staff at all levels within an organization
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools, experience with Canva a plus
  • Knowledge of social media CRMs a plus but not required
  • Experience with basic video editing a plus but not required
  • Requires a commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
Essential Functions
  • Assist the Marketing & Communications team with copywriting, editing, proofreading, research, some graphic design and project support via website, social media, email and webinars
  • Assist with the scheduling and publication of Y-USA content
  • Contribute to discovery, strategy and brainstorm sessions
  • Update project plans and track progress in excel and Smartsheet, as needed
  • Supports meetings, which includes but is not limited to: scheduling, logistics, webinar set-up and technical assistance, preparing materials
  • Attend departmental meetings and committee meetings, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Communications team
