The Trip counselor would serve as a leader, role model, educator and counselor for approximately 12-18 campers and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp Program, Adventure Trips and Leadership Camps. The primary duty will be going on all of our adventure trips offered this season. Adventures trip are where you bring a group of campers off-site to different areas in Wisconsin. Secondary - the trip counselor would do resident camps, adventure based day camps and leadership development camps.
Typical Work Schedule
Mondays - Fridays with hour primarily between 8:00am - 4:30pm, with a weekly Thursday sleepover
Adventure Trip Weeks are Sunday-Friday ALL day and hours until returning.
June 9 - August 29, 2025 (12 weeks total)
Training will be discussed with the Summer Camp Director, primarily starting after Memorial Day.
All Certifications are offered as part of training and we will pay you to take these for your role with us!
Salary
Starting at $525.00 per week (about $2,100 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership
**This position would receive extra compensation for additional overnights on the Adventure Trip weeks.
- Minimum of 21 years of age or older
- Must have a high school diploma, GED or HS Transcripts
- Coursework and/or previous experience working with teens, leadership development, camping, hiking and more.
- Current Lifeguard, CPR, AED and First Aid certification. We can train you if needed.
- Experience or have previous training with high ropes courses, adventure challenge programs and camping.
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs.
- An appreciation of outdoor living, nature and camp settings.
- Must work primarily Monday-Friday. Adventure Trip weeks start on a Sunday afternoon until Friday.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain and 70-90 degree weather.
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: rock climbing, hiking on different terrains, lawn games, boating, building campfires, swimming, teambuilding exercises, physical games and more.
