Job Description

Do you enjoy working with youth in indoor and outdoor summer settings? Do you have the ability to use positive behavior management techniques and build relationships with youth? If so, please consider applying and joining the Camp Team at Camp Greendale on Indian Lake!

Under the supervision of the Camp Director, Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising and leading a group of 10-20 campers through a high-quality day camp experience with their peers while identifying and meeting camper needs and maintaining YMCA day camp standards and Dept. of Public Health standards.

Camp Greendale will run for 9 weeks between the dates of 6/23/2025 to 8/22/2025. The camp day will run from 7:30am-6:00pm Monday through Friday.


All staff training on Saturday, June 7th and is required for camp staff to attend. Other training dates to be determined. 


Schedules available: Tell us your choice of the following:

Monday-Friday 7:30am-1:00pm, 

Monday-Friday 12:30pm-6:00pm, 

and/or Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

Job Type: Summer Seasonal


Pay: $16.00 per hour for new hires, $16.50 for 1 year of employment history returning Camp Counselors, $17.00 for 2+ years of employment history returning Camp Counselors. Plus, access to YMCA facilities and Employee Assistance Program.

Qualifications
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications.
  • Desire and Ability to work with children indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to assist in teaching an activity.
  • Ability to relate to one’s peer group Good character, integrity, and adaptability · Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
  • At least 16 years of age.
Essential Functions
  • Supervise & ensure the safety of all campers
  • Facilitate and lead camp activities including: sports, games, arts & crafts, swimming, and field trips
  • Keep attendance of all campers and make sure you know where campers are at all times
  • Follow emergency procedures when necessary including CPR/AED/First Aid when needed
  • Assist in camper pick up and drop off in the mornings & afternoons
  • Communicate in a respectful & friendly manner when needed to parents/guardians of campers
  • Assist with clean up, setting up/taking down equipment, and encourage campers to pick up after themselves
  • Model YMCA values like caring, honesty & respect and build positive rapport with campers
