Only 20 minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park, Camp Chief Ouray offers scenic views in every direction. The camp is located on the property of Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colorado.
The Media Specialist is responsible for capturing, editing, and sharing photo and video content for summer camp. The Media Specialist is expected to produce photos of each camper who attends camp. The Media Specialist is expected to work collaboratively with other specialist and admin staff to ensure a wide variety of photos and videos are captured in a timely fashion. They are expected to organize all media files and manage sharing media content with families, on social media, and the website.
Must have experience in journalism, communications, and/or marketing, including experience with editing media content
Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time, specifically able to meet deadlines.
Must have current certification in CPR/First Aid or be willing to obtain certification
All other duties as assigned
Willingness to comply with YMCA and DOT rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles, including 15-passenger mini-buses.
Must conduct all vehicle operations within the DOT Regulatory Requirements that apply to the position's specific driving duties.
Must have a valid US Driver's license or, if required, a Commercial Driver's License.
Must have a satisfactory driving safety record (Verified by MVR Review)
Must have the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card (Complete DOT Physical) in order to perform driving duties.
Drivers must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Drivers must complete a YMCA driver training program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL CAMP CHIEF OURAY STAFF:
Create a safe space for all campers, families, and staff. Promote safe work practices to allow for development and growth for all.
Possess the mental, social, and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships, putting camper needs first
Respond to camper and customer requests for service, troubleshoot problems and develop solutions in a patient and respectful manner.
Contribute to a cooperative and positive camp community, be a team player
Be responsible for the upkeep of the camp facility and cleanliness of camp. Report any repairs in a timely manner.
Assist other departments as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR MEDIA SPECIALIST:
Participate in staff training prior to working with campers
Be concerned with the needs of camper development and growth, guiding the individual camper in participation in group, unit and all-camp activities.
Follow YMCA of the Rockies marketing and communications best practices, including ensuring all photographs and videos are stored in the correct company locations for YMCA access and use
Writing (with assistance) blog posts, newsletters, web content, ads, Facebook, and Instagram updates.
Editing (with assistance) web content, ads, brochures, and newsletters written by the Camp Chief Ouray Team as necessary.
Producing photographs of each camper, staff, and camp activities throughout the summer for possible use in promotional and retention materials.
Developing videos to portray the life and activities at Camp Chief Ouray.
Managing videos and photographs on the website and other social marketing venues.
Write a report and evaluation of program (End of Season Report) and summer including programs, leadership, site and facilities and recommendations for the future.
