Preschool Lead Teacher

We are hiring for 2 Lead Preschool teachers! We need one for our TK program 5 days a week and one for our 3 year old classroom 3 days week.
Job Description

Under the direction of the Preschool Coordinator and in accordance with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, this position will develop, implement and coordinate all activities.  This position assist in in the responsibility for the welfare, supervision and safety of the children enrolled in the programs.  This position will ensure quality programs, safe activities, and participant satisfaction.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  •  Minimum of two years professional classroom experience with children of preschool or elementary school age.
  •  Minimum of a four year college degree in Childcare Studies or related field.
  •  Meets quality standards of YMCA of Greater Charlotte and maintains all trainings and certifications required within quality standards in accordance to allotted timeframe.
  •  Must have two years supervision experience with supervising staff or other teachers.
  •  Strong personal relations skills with children and adults.
  •  Practices caring, respect, faith, honesty, and responsibility.
  •  Knowledge of general YMCA programs, philosophies, and objectives.
  •  Ability to work in and resolve conflict situations.
  •  Prior experience working in a pre-school environment
  •  Minimum of 3 yeas of supervisory experience
  •  Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities
  •  Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  •  Ability to make decisions and work as a team player
  •  Ability to handle multiple tasks
  •  Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule
  •  Ability to creatively solve problems
  •  Ability to maintain safe environment
  •  Excellent organizational and presentation skills to aide in planning in the Pre-school area.
  •  Familiarity and experience with budget control
  •  Maintain trainings and certifications as stated in the Quality Standards in allotted timeframe.

Physical Requirements:

  •  The Preschool Teacher must be able to see, hear, speak, read, walk, sit and stand, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Essential Functions

Direct Responsibilities:

  •  Promptness and consistent attendance.
  •  Supervise assistant teacher(s) in daily activities and in planning for the school year.
  •  Lead monthly preschool staff meetings and planning sessions.
  •  Utilize planning period.
  •  Assist in drop-off and pick-up process each preschool day.
  •  Write Classroom curriculum for age appropriate teaching level.
  •  Implement approved curriculum, including focus on Christian emphasis.
  •  Lead daily activities utilizing the schedule and designate tasks accordingly.
  •  Utilize Listen First skills when communication with parents/guardians.
  •  Complete all daily duties such as reports or daily cleaning of facility.
  •  Attend required staff meetings.
  •  Promote and participate in YMCA programs, membership and events.
  •  Encourage and display healthy eating habits with parent and child.
  •  In the absence of the Director and as directed, ,  act on his/her behalf in regards to general member and/or staff concerns
  •  Assist Director in recruiting, orientation, supervision, training, evaluation and recognition of childcare staff
  •  Monitor parent/child feedback
  •  Assist coordinator to ensure proper coverage adequate coverage, securing substitutes when necessary
  •  Develop and implement structured plan for childcare center
  •  Conduct an annual performance evaluations with each direct report.
  •  Assist in ensuring the  health and safety standards of the Pre-school
  •  Provide superior customer service to members and their children by assisting problem solving and conflict situations.
  •  Assist the Pre-school Annual Community Outreach Campaign.
  •  Assist in the coordination of special staff, member and volunteer events.
  •  Participate in branch management functions and planning.
  •  Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.  Assist supervisor with facilitating staff meetings.
  •  Know and understand branch and association policies and procedures
  •  Ensure proper set-up and break-down of area on a daily basis
  •  Maintain Quality Standards by ensuring cleanliness and order.
  •  Communicate appropriately with other staff members in a positive manner
  •  Assist with volunteer training and modeling procedures
  •  Complete all other duties as assigned
  •  Consult with the Human Resources Manager on any staff performance related issues and taking appropriate disciplinary actions.
  •  Manage the preschool staff Assistants timekeeping performance.
  •  Promote the participation for the Association Annual Staff Engagement Survey
