The YMCA Camp Cullen facility is a best-in-class facility, intentionally designed to deliver a high-quality, immersive experience to kids of all ages. The cabins, activities, layout and amenities, mixed with the well-preserved natural environment provide a perfect setting for fun, growth, excitement, disconnection from the hustle of the world and reconnection with nature and new friends.
Provides support and mentorship of the seasonal summer camp leadership team. Maintaining organization and oversight of the team in an advisory role. Responsible for, but not limited to, scheduling leadership tasks, supporting leadership team in daily responsibilities, and supporting the LIT and TAC programing. Directly supervises staff within the program. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes camper safety and engagement. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on youth development including the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
1. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
2. At least 18 years of age.
3. Prefer 3 years previous experience working in a camp setting and 2 years of supervisory experience.
4. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
5. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention trainings.
6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
1) Mentors and supports leadership team with daily tasks.
2) Assist in scheduling and organization of weekly leadership tasks.
3) Oversee team meetings in the absence of Directors.
4) Able to assist in all areas of camp when a director is not available.
5) Supervises and supports a group of staff and campers within the TAC and LIT programs.
6) Supports program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
7) Responsible for completing daily tasks related to the operation of camp programs.
a) Works with the team to maintain camp programing and scheduling as necessary.
b) Observe all staff to ensure that they are performing their necessary duties.
c) Participates in the completion of closing procedures following summer camp activities.
d) Conducts evaluations of Lead staff to ensure the quality of their performance and coaches/mentors' staff when they are not meeting expectations.
e) Submits requests in advance for additional equipment and supplies when needed.
8) Participates enthusiastically with other program staff to prepare camp for summer camper arrivals, departures, and special events.
9) Participates enthusiastically in program staff and TLC/TAC staff meetings and trainings.
10) Maintains positive relations with guests and other staff. Conveys information on programs and schedules to campers.
11) Attends camp marketing events and other special events as directed and other duties allow.
12) Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
13) Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
