Job Description

The Community Aquatics Director provides leadership in the overall development, implementation, promotion, and administration of the aquatics programs and pool facility at our East Jefferson YMCA, located in Metairie, Louisiana (a few miles outside of New Orleans).  The Director is responsible for ensuring all aquatics programs and services are delivered with high quality in accordance with association and aquatics standards.  The Director assists with supervision and implementation of the association's outreach and offsite programming in the region (swim lessons, babysitting classes, CPR classes, pool management and lifeguard classes).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service and management, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency
  • Ability to direct assigned operations, including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing, public relations, and program development
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills
  • Current Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Instructor, and CPO certifications or ability to obtain after hire
Essential Functions
  • Recruitment, training and supervision of lifeguards and swim instructors
  • Membership retention and satisfaction
  • Aquatics program management, including safety, quality and member service
  • Swim team management
  • Training CPR, Lifeguarding, Swim Instructor and Babysitting courses
  • Pool rental and parties programming
  • Collaboration with outside organizations on aquatics programming and staff training
  • Serve as a member of the management team and Manager on Duty for the facility
  • Lead by example at all times -- interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability
