Senior Program Director of Group Service

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Senior Program Director of Group Services to join our team at Camp Seymour. 
Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  

The Senior Program Director or Group Services coordinates the year-round conferencing and retreats, manages challenge/adventure course and plays an active role on Camp Seymour’s Leadership Team.  

Wage: $67,724.80 to $72,000.00 per year, This is an exempt, salaried position. 

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week 

Location: YMCA Camp Seymour, Gig Harbor, WA

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or experience in the field of conference administration, summer resident camping and/or youth and family programs.
  • The demonstrated ability to work with members and staff of all ages. 
  • Experience in, or ability to train in, areas of planning, budgeting, supervision, evaluation, and computer use is important. 
  • Communication skills (verbal and written) as well as customer service orientation are essential.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of families including adults and children.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in both attitude and appearance.
  • Hold or commit to obtaining certifications in Basic First Aid, CPR.
Essential Functions
  • Promote, market, and schedule year-round conferences and retreats, wellness weekend retreats, and parent/child campouts. Develop programming to create new business. Maintain an updated calendar of group reservations (Camp Brain).
  • Communicate with group leader(s) prior to scheduled events to ensure that program, meeting space, food, and lodging needs are understood. 
  • Serve as host to groups, and support other assigned hosts as scheduled. Recruit and schedule program staff and volunteers to assist with program delivery. Ensure that a constant emphasis on member service maximizes participant satisfaction.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Program Director - Camping, assist in the planning, development, and marketing of Camp Seymour's summer camping programs, challenge course and actively participate in the delivery of these programs.
  • Play a significant role in summer camp programming and planning at the director level.
  • Maintain all records, trainings, facilitation and promotions for camp’s Challenge/Adventure Course.
  • Assist with overall program development and evaluation, special program thrusts, and innovative program efforts toward reaching branch goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development of branch operating plans as they relate to Camp Seymour programs.  Provide leadership to encourage the involvement of volunteer and staff leaders in the successful implementation of these plans.
  • Monitor and document accomplishments in conferences and retreats as they relate to the goals and objectives of the branch operating plan.
  • Supervise and schedule staff and volunteers who deliver the group programs at Camp Seymour.
  • Engage volunteers in the delivery of programs and services, providing supervisory oversight and training as appropriate.  
  • The senior director is responsible for overseeing the entire department and therefore, the schedule varies depending on the program, activity, meetings and special events.
