Job Description

The Childcare & SAC Director is responsible for monitoring and supervising all day-to-day operations of the day care, before & after school, and summer day camp programs, including but not limited to the staffing, program scheduling, and those programs designated as priority community needs in accordance with the North Penn YMCA’s long range program plan.  This position may involve early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities. This job is performed to standard when all work is completed accurately and on time, with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in administration, early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or equivalent is preferred
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience or proof of skills in scheduling, staffing, facility/equipment management, staff/volunteer relations, purchasing,  finances  and budgeting
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience relating to day care, school-age, and camping programs
  • Requires current Adult/Pediatric First aid, CPR and AEDertifications 
  • Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations 
  • Must have strong collaborative work ethic
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
Essential Functions
  • Develop and manage the operating plan to promote program and grow participation within local school district (s) or at offsite locations ensuring a safe, educational, social and nurturing environment.
  • Develop and manage department budget related to the position.
  • Provide leadership and exercise sound judgment in resolving issues with parents, school teachers, and administrators. Consults with management on issues when necessary.
  • Oversee and manage the licensing requirements assuring compliance with State and local regulations and accreditation standards. Ensure program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct assigned staff and volunteers for child care, School Age Care and Summer Day camp. Review and evaluate performance. Conduct regular staff meetings and trainings.
  • Conduct regular site observations, assuring program quality and safety standards are met.
  • Provide timely written reports to Branch Executive to include current state, identification of issues and trends. Analyze trends based on surveys of parents, students, principals and staff feedback.
  • Recommend and implement improvement plans as needed ensuring high-quality member-focused programs through innovative program development and ongoing staff development.
  • Oversee the management of sites and site supervisors, ensuring risk management guidelines are continually maintained according to the mission of the programs.
  • Support and implement approved programs for all sites, in addition to adopting other signature programs or enhancements of programs as needed and assigned.
  • Collaborate with Branch Executive and management with review of curriculum development and enhancements where necessary.
  • Facilitate communication and provide leadership. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Provide leadership and support to all fund-raising events, and other Y Community special events.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners; i.e., school administrators, CBO’s (community-based organizations), town officials and other entities in an effort to enhance programming and visibility of programs.
  • Manage and maintain data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Responsible for administrative duties for effective program.
  • Actively lead and participate in summer camp programs.
  • Implement administrative duties as related to management of program, i.e., payroll, performance appraisals, etc. Provide data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Coordinates, with the Marketing and Financial Development Director, a regular planned public relations and marketing plan
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed (i.e. participation in branch-wide activities and events as a team leader)
  • Understands and applies the concept of Membership Retention and supports membership department customer service, information distribution and facility coverage.
  • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Perform any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the North Penn YMCA 
Required Certifications

Must have the following:

1) Adult & Pediatric 1st aid/CPR/AED certification
