Job Description

The Senior Program Director of Early Childhood Learning assumes responsibility for the management and operations of the association’s Preschool, School Age and Summer Camp Programs. The Senior Program Director is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of preschool, school age and summer camp programming and education at an assigned location, providing leadership for staff, developing program operating procedures and standards, risk management policies while ensuring financial sustainability. The Senior Program Director collaborates throughout all organization departments to ensure financial stability, consistent implementation of the mission, and high-quality programming in all areas according to YMCA of Northern Colorado standards and goals. The role of the Senior Program Director is essential to ensure the State of Wyoming Licensing Rules and Regulations are maintained.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or an equivalent certificate. Bachelor's or an associate degree in early childhood education or equivalent preferred
  • Have a combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years in the areas of early childhood management or early childhood education, child development, nursing, or related field; or shall have received a professional credential from an organization recognized by the Department
  • Directors shall meet all the training requirements for childcare as required by the State
  • Be onsite and available for at least 50% of the operating week in which they are listed as the director, unless an exception by the licenser for good cause is given
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completing Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Ability to work with a wide range of age groups, demographics and can collaborate with several groups and individuals
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Experience in multiple site management, understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices, understanding of the state-licensed program, and experience with fiscal management and staff development
  • Ability to meet YMCA driver requirements

Essential Functions
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates Preschool, School Age Program and Summer Camp operations. Ensures high-quality programs and establishes innovative programs and enrollment growth
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals while ensuring adequate training is delivered/completed in multiple methods, including STARS
  • Ensures high-quality program curriculum, educational standards are met, and data is tracked appropriately for all students
  • Develop, manage, and control budgets related to the department.  Ensure program operates within budget and program fees are collected promptly and DFS system is maintained
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed
  • Provides for upkeep of Preschool, School Age program and Summer Camp program areas including equipment and ensures the physical environment supports safety practices aligning the YMCA, Health Department, and state standards
  • Conducts Quality Assurance Checks for all program areas
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Respond to all agency, parent, and community inquiries and complaints promptly
  • Provides staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign, committees, and other Board functions as assigned
  • Works directly with the Executive Director to develop and implement community-based early learning opportunities at all YMCA branches
  • Maintains proper records/department files, including staff training hours, as required by Human Resources and State of Wyoming Child Care Licensing Agency
  • Organizes and participates in Association special meetings and events
  • Assists in the marketing development, marketing events, and distribution of program information working in collaboration with the Marketing department
  • Compiles program statistics, including parent surveys. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the program
