Job Description

The Manager of Grants, Budgets, and Analysis is responsible for accounting operations of the YMCA including preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, analysis of monthly results and accounting for/reporting of grant activity. This position oversees payroll and works in collaboration with other administrative and branch staff to identify information needed to track financial activity. The Manager of Grants, Budgets, and Analysis works with the CFO and Controller to ensure completion of annual audits and provides analysis of pertinent data and offers guidance on achieving financial outcomes.

  • Knowledge GAAP and Uniform Grant Guidance (A-133) audit requirements
  • Knowledge of grant reporting policies and procedures
  • Superior attention to detail and deadlines
  • Knowledge of computer applications including Excel and general accounting packages

Ability to work in a fast-paced, creative and team-oriented environment 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fund accounting required

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in federal and state grants

• 8-10 year’s successful experience in financial management/reporting

• Strong supervisory experience and skills

Essential Functions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • In partnership with branch staff and the CFO, responsible for assisting in preparation of Agency’s annual budget and monthly forecasts
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and internal-use financial statements.
  • Assists with the annual audit and completion of audit work papers.
  • Works with IT to ensure Branch income information is properly captured and reflected in financial statements.
  • In collaboration with appropriate staff create metrics to monitor success of strategies and prepare reports on identified indicators on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare all grant related journal entries
  • Prepare financial reports as needed, especially in regards to grant funding
  • Assist branch staff in expanding financial literacy
  • Works with other Managers on Grant Reporting, Billing, and Compliance
  • Provides monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on grants
  • Provides back-up for other finance staff
