Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Association Membership Director at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is responsible for the AMA YMCA’s membership strategies that lead to increased sales and retention for the association, as well as to community recognition as a leader in our industry.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

·         YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

·         Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.

·         Ability to think strategically and communicate strategies with directors and senior leadership.

·         Possess skills in organization, attention to detail, communication, customer relations, motivating staff/volunteers, managing multiple priorities.

·         Ability to analyze and solve problems and demonstrate assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of responsibilities.

·         Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

·         Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
of the community.

·         CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Understanding Your Biases, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required within 30 days of hire.

Essential Functions

1.    Serves as the expert for membership to all AMA YMCA branches, staying abreast of marketing trends and innovation in the industry. Leads association membership cabinet.

2.    In collaboration with each branches’ Membership Director, creates and implements membership sales, retention, and quality control measurement strategies and tools for the association.

3.    Analyzes data and evaluates the effectiveness of sales, customer service, methods, costs, and results to inform further strategy development.

4.    Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to meet all association sales, recruitment, and retention goals, minimizing terminations. Works with Executive Directors and branch teams to communicate all membership campaigns and events.

5.    Develops a robust corporate membership strategy and leads the association in implementing a corporate membership program that will produce membership growth and impact in the business communities we serve.

6.    Oversees and supervises the association’s call center.

7.    Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing front-facing support of the Y’s online services including online registration, membership purchasing, and point of sale transactions.

8.    Provides support to initiatives to increase membership from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

9.    Ensures staff in our association is utilizing the membership software and other tools and are meeting association standards.

10.  In conjunction with Executive Directors, responsible for the success of the membership compliance audits.

11.  Serves as Membership Director for the North YMCA and adheres to all essential functions of a branch Membership Director.

Functions as the primary point of contact with the Association Marketing Director.
