Marketing and Communications Director

Job Description

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, which operates two mission-based family and group conference and retreat centers and a residential camp, serving more than 225,000 guests annually. The Marketing & Communications Director plays a pivotal role in shaping our brand image, driving strategic initiatives and fostering innovation while maximizing occupancy and revenue through overnight lodge and cabins stays. This position reports to the Vice President of Business Development and oversees a team of five responsible for all communication channels including digital, advertising, promotions, public relations, marketing partnerships and crisis communications. As a key leader you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance YMCA of the Rockies’ market presence, engage guests and build brand awareness.

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of previous and contemporary destination marketing experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous team leadership and management preferred.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in crisis communication and media training.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong writing skills and/or published pieces.
  • Support and model the Association service principles and service standards.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep large amounts of information accurate along with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Possess and share innovative and creative thinking and ideas.
Essential Functions

Strategic Vision and Execution:

  • Develop and implement long-term marketing and communications vision. Identify target audiences, create key messages and distribute content across relevant channels.
  • Lead issues management and crisis communications in coordination with VP of Business Development and senior management team.
  • Ensure consistent branding, mission alignment and high-quality communications across all platforms. 

Creative Campaigns and Brand Awareness:

  • Generate innovative marketing campaigns that resonate with our target audience.
  • Oversee the development of creative content including graphic design, press releases, social media, event marketing, website, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage the design, production and publication of all communications. 

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Cultivate and maintain high level of knowledge of services and facilities available at both Centers and Camp Chief Ouray.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners and stakeholders to align communication efforts with organizational goals.
  • Manage, evaluate and mentor a marketing team of 4-5. Provide tools and opportunities for personal and team members to development essential to success. 

Measurement and Optimization:

  • Track the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, analyze data and adjust strategies as needed. Research industry trends and stay informed on innovative marketing approaches.
  • Own the organizations Marketing budget and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Manager to optimize pricing strategies and promotions.
