Job Description

The YMCA Program Director is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple aspects of YMCA programming, with a primary focus on Aquatics, Child watch, and Esports programs. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for community engagement, and a commitment to promoting health and well-being among all members, including seniors.

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

2.    Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in program management, preferably in a YMCA or similar non-profit organization.

3.    Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, developing and implementing programs, and managing budgets.

4.    Strong knowledge and understanding of child development, health and wellness principles, and esports trends and best practices.

5.    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

6.    CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

7.    Must adhere to all required training requirements.

8.    Passion for the YMCA mission and a commitment to promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Essential Functions

1.    Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for child watch, membership, health and wellness, and esports programs in alignment with the mission and goals of the YMCA.

2.    Program Development: Lead the development and enhancement of high-quality programs and services that meet the needs and interests of members, with a focus on promoting physical activity, social engagement, and healthy living.

3.    Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership, supervision, and support to program staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

4.    Budget Management: Develop and manage annual budgets for child watch, membership, health and wellness, and esports programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient use of resources.

5.    Member Engagement: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members, and actively engage with them to assess needs, gather feedback, and ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.

6.    Collaboration: Collaborate with other YMCA departments, community organizations, and partners to maximize resources, expand program offerings, and promote cross-functional initiatives.

7.    Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and YMCA policies and take appropriate measures to maintain a safe and secure environment for all participants.

8.    Evaluation and Reporting: Establish and monitor program metrics and outcomes, and regularly report on program effectiveness, participation trends, and other relevant data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

9.    Other required duties:

·         Actively participates in membership growth.

·         Adheres to association and position training requirements.

·         Participates in annual fundraising.

·         Work various hours and locations to meet association needs.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions:

1.    Work is performed in an indoor aquatics environment. 

2.    Must be able to hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness. 

3.    See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

4.    Ability to sit for long periods at a time are required, as well as, the ability to hold breath under water when necessary.
