We offer you a career with a future and the chance to make a lasting difference in your community.  We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, Aquatics Director that will work with the Senior Aquatics Director to oversee all aquatics operations. This includes the management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development and financial development.

Qualifications

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience in aquatics and/or recreation preferred
  • Current Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency Oxygen Administration provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate multiple technology platforms
  • Strong communication skills with multiple generations
    CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville
  • YMCA Lifeguard Training certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Training certification, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisvile

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
  • Must be able to remain alert.
  • Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
  • Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature
  • Develop relationships that have a positive impact in our community
    Ensures excellent member service and meet Association standards
  • Actively participate as part of the YMCA at Norton Commons leadership team
  • Recruit, hire and retain swim instructors year round
  • Train, lead and supervise approximately 20 swim instructors
  • Perform the required risk management tasks to include: safety audits and drills, in-services, staff observations, chemical and pump room operations and general pool maintenance
  • Manages and monitors department budget with a focus on swim instructor salaries and program growth
  • Maintain swim instructor certification records and prepare reports regarding compliance with all state, county and YMCA regulations
  • Continue to serve the community with growth of programs
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, including volunteer recruitment and development
  • Participates in Association Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency and quality in their department
  • Rotating Manager on Duty assignments specifically for Aquatics area
